Based on research done by one of the fathers of psychology, Kurt Lewin, this talk explores the power of the equation B=f(P, E). Behavior is equal to the function of the Person and the Environment. It is possible to transform any environment using strategies to optimize the physical and mental aspects to create change in the people interacting in the environment. These quick and easy strategies can create growth and change almost immediately. Physical environment pertains to how workplaces or homes can be designed to optimize a specific feeling when entering or portraying a certain idea or brand. The mental environment pertains to the culture, and psychological safety instilled within the environment. In this talk, the attendees will learn basic information on psychological safety, the power of the environment around them, and 3 strategies to change the physical and mental environment around them.
Traditional change takes time and is most often resisted due to human nature resisting any change. As humans, we prefer stability and rhythm, but using the power gained in this talk, it is possible to optimize performance and change behavior without resistance using the power of engineering the environment. This environmental change can drastically impact human behavior and even has an impact on human error which is inevitable, by engineering the environment around people it is possible to mitigate it.
